The influential designer behind the recycling symbol. Designed through a university competition to create a graphic symbol which would be used on recycled paper products. The competition was also to honor the first Earth Day, which was held that same year (1970). Judges included, Saul Bass, Herbert Bayer, James Miho and Herbert Pinzke.
